JOHN CLARK

 

 

John Clark  was born on the17th of December 1927

 

 

John Clark had two families. His father and mother having both been previously married with children. In addition to his full blood brother James and sister Isabelle who died in infancy he was close to Margaret and Peter Gallacher, his half-siblings. On his father side there were another set of half-siblings he knew nothing about. The result of his fathers previous marriage which ended in disgrace.

 

 

John passed the exam to attend High School. However his mother would not know as he destroyed the letter out of adolescent vanity. He did not want to wear the uniform of the posh boys and be laughed at.

 

John Clark did his national service for the Navy in South America and was stationed in Bermuda.

 

Working at an engineering factory in Bridgeton, John Clark met Cathleen Boyce the office girl. They were soon married and moved to East Kilbride where John had a job with Rolls Royce.

John Clark was a great reader, football fan and lover of films. Never a drinker, he was a quiet and thoughtful man.

 

 

John had an almost life long tobacco habit having taken up smoking aged five. He had his first massive heart attack at 37 years old. Though told he must stop smoking, he was not able to do so. He died on the 10th of December 1983 aged 56.
